Christians in Egypt face persecution in several different ways. They are a population that has been deprived education and opportunities on a systematic level for many generations, resulting in them being a lower-level citizen. They have few ways to improve their future and many have to result to dangerous jobs and moving to other countries. This is what happened to the 21 Egyptian Martyrs in Libya.

On February 15, a five-minute video was published, showing the beheading of 21 captives on a beach along southern Mediterranean coast. A caption in the video called the captives the “people of the cross, followers of the hostile Egyptian Church.” A mother and a wife share how they found peace.
